Report: Charles Manson's Fiancée Wanted To Marry Him For His Corpse

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Charles Manson's engagement is off after the serial killer discovered his fiancée just wanted to marry him for his body, according to a report.

The author of an upcoming book says Afton Elaine Burton and a friend, Craig Hammond, came up with the scheme to have Burton marry Manson so she could take possession of his body after he died and place it in a glass crypt as a tourist attraction, according to the New York Post.

Manson, 80, and his 27-year-old fiancée, known as Star, had obtained a wedding license in November, but it expired last Thursday. The pair reportedly intended on applying for another wedding license before Manson discovered Burton's plans.

Burton, who moved to Corcoran to be near the imprisoned Manson, operates a blog called "Release Charles Manson Now."
