California Chrome Points Towards $10M Dubai World Cup; Shared Belief To Big 'Cap

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. (CBSLA.com) Head trainer Art Sherman announces Sunday morning that Horse of the Year California Chrome will prepare for the richest race in the World, the Dubai World Cup.

"He's going to Dubai," Sherman said by phone from his Los Alamitos base Sunday morning. "We're preparing for that. The horse came out the race well and ate up good."

The Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner will have over $4 million of earning before reaching the $10 million Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1) on March 28.

California Chrome is coming off a second place finish in the San Antonio Invitational, which was won by Jim Rome's Shared Belief.

Santa Anita had one of its biggest days without being a Breeders Cup day with over 20,000 people in attendance.

Shared Belief, trained Jerry Hollendorfer, said his 4-year old will point towards the G1. Santa Anita Handicap on March 7.
