Second Child Dies From Injuries In San Juan Capistrano Condo Fire

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO (CBSLA.com) — A second child has died as a result of a condominium fire that killed his mother and older brother earlier this month.

The Orange County coroner's office said Iker Liborio, 2, died Friday at Children's Hospital at Mission in Mission Viejo. His 3-year-old brother, Jaiden Liborio, died Jan. 20 as a result of smoke inhalation from the fire in a second-floor condominium unit at 26577 La Zanja Street that morning. The boys' mother, Marciela Sanchez, 20, died the day after the blaze from burns and smoke inhalation.

A child playing with a lighter in the living room was the likely cause of the blaze, firefighters said last week. Eight units suffered some damage as a result of the fire, smoke or water, displacing about 80 residents, according to Orange County Fire spokesman Steve Concialdi. One of the two units damaged by the fire was home to eight adults and nine children.
