Reality TV Star Struck, Killed By Metrolink Train In Burbank

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — Fitness model and reality TV star George Gregory "Greg" Plitt Jr. was struck and killed by a Metrolink train just north of the station in Burbank on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Late Saturday night, the Los Angeles County coroner's office confirmed Plitt's identity. The 37-year-old lived in Burbank.

The incident occurred at about 4:10 p.m., according to Lt. Leo Bauer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Transit Services Bureau.

Plitt was walking on the tracks in an area where pedestrians are not allowed to cross, near Front Street in downtown Burbank, when he was struck by Metrolink Train 268, which was heading south from Lancaster on the Antelope Valley Line. Officials said Plitt was with friends, videotaping and taking photos of passing trains.

None of the 180 passengers on the train was reported to be injured. They were taken by bus to Union Station, and a return train to Lancaster was cancelled.

Investigators were going through the pictures and video on Saturday night so see if the accident was caught on camera.

A native of Baltimore, Plitt was a cast member on "Work Out" and "Work Out In The Zone" on Bravo, and appeared on other television shows and in a number of commercials.
