Man Accused Of Firing Gunshots In West LA Neighborhood Detained

WEST LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A male suspect was detained on Sunday after allegedly firing gunshots in a West L.A. neighborhood last night.

According to the West Los Angeles Police Department, officers were sent around 9:45 p.m. Saturday to an apartment building in the area of Rochester and Texas avenues for report of shots being fired.

Once on scene, officers set up a perimeter to search for the man allegedly armed with a .40 caliber handgun.

Officers said the suspect barricaded himself inside the second story of a nearby building in the Sawtelle neighborhood.

During the investigation, officers evacuated residents located in the 1300 block of Brockton Avenue.

Police were eventually able to locate and detain the suspect. He has not yet been released.

The standoff was cleared around 6:45 a.m. Sunday.

According to police, the investigation is ongoing to locate evidence of the shooting, as no injuries were reported.
