Missing Yucca Valley Man Found Unharmed In Texas
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY (CBSLA.com) — An 85-year-old man that was reported missing from his Yucca Valley residence last week was found unharmed in Texas, officials announced on Sunday.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Dean Abney was located in his vehicle by a trooper around 11:15 p.m. in Oldham County, Texas.
Officials explained he was traveling on Interstate 40 at the 49 mile marker, when troopers responded to provide assistance to Abney for having reported asthma problems.
Deputies said he was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Around 6:47 p.m. Friday, Abney's wife reported him missing to the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station, when he didn't return from getting a haircut that afternoon.
Abney's family was notified of his whereabouts around 11:46 p.m. Saturday.
Deputies explained family members are working to make arrangements for his safe return to California.
It remains unclear as to why Abney traveled to Texas.
