Suspect Held In Attempted Kidnapping Of Lancaster Girl, 4

LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities say a quick-thinking 13-year-old teen stopped the attempted kidnapping of his 4-year-old sister in Lancaster Saturday.

Just before noon, Lancaster Deputies were patrolling the 300 block of West Kildare Street when they were flagged down by residents who advised them of an attempted kidnapping.

Deputies located and detained the suspect.

Officials said the suspect was seen pacing in the neighborhood where the 4-year-old lives. The suspect entered a fenced-in yard and asked the alleged victim her name.

Authorities said the suspect attempted to grab the child and walk away when the victim's 13-year-old brother grabbed her other arm preventing the suspect from fleeing with the child. The sibling then yelled for help and for someone to call 911.

Officials said the suspect, now identified as 61-year-old Earl Williams, has been booked at the Lancaster station for kidnapping.

The child was not harmed.
