Shaw Reinstated By USC After No Charges Are Filed

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Josh Shaw, the suspended USC cornerback who injured both of his ankles in August and then fabricated a story about how it happened, was reinstated to the football team Tuesday afternoon.

Prosecutors announced on Monday that they would not charge Shaw for his role in an alleged domestic dispute that may have led to the injuries.

Shaw's reinstatement was announced on USC's official athletics web page, www.usctrojans.com.

Shaw claimed that he had been hurt while trying to rescue his 7-year-old nephew during a pool party in Palmdale in late August. He then acknowledged that he lied about the incident and was suspended from the team Aug. 27.

It was not immediately known if Shaw will actually play in the Trojans' next game, this Saturday against UCLA at the Rose Bowl.
