VALENCIA (CBSLA.com)  —  A father is demanding justice Wednesday after a disturbing video surfaced and and was posted online showing a group of teenage boys attacking his son.

The incident reportedly occurred last Friday evening outside Valencia High School.

The boy’s father speaking out and only speaking to CBS2 and KCAL9’s Peter Daut.

The victim’s father told Daut his son was leaving a football game when the group suddenly surrounded and then attacked the teen.

The attack was captured on cell phone video. The faces are blurred because all the participants are minors.

The victim is shown being slammed into a fence before he is repeatedly punched by the group.

The 16-year-old who is the target of the violence is pushed to the ground where the attack continues.

The boy eventually gets up and is able to run away.

“The video shows clearly they assaulted my son. They wanted to hurt my son,” says the boy’s father.

The victim’s father did not want to show his face on camera.

He said his son suffered a sprained neck as well as several cuts and bruises.

“I’m relying on the authorities. I’m relying on the principal of the high school to do what’s right and give us justice,” said the father.

The school district told Daut they are taking the attack seriously but it was too soon to call it a case of bullying.

The school district also chose to not release any information about the attackers — their ages, or even what school in Valencia they attend.

A change.org petition, however, is asking that the assailants be removed from Valencia’s junior varsity baseball team. The petition has more than 1,600 signatures. It is believed some of the assailants were dressed in pink for a breast cancer awareness event at school.

“Disciplinary action will be distributed as appropriate once all the facts are known.,” said Gail Pinsker, of the William S. Hart Union High School District.

The victim’s father, meanwhile, says his son is a senior and honors student who has never been in a fight before.

What caused the attack? Even the boy’s dad isn’t sure.

“All l I know is my son is innocent of anything. He happened to be in the wrong place,” said the father.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department is also looking at the video and told Daut criminal charges could be filed.
