Man Killed While Walking On 101 Freeway In LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man has died Sunday due to injuries sustained while walking along a freeway in the downtown area.

According to California Highway Patrol officials, the victim was walking on the right side of the Southbound Hollywood 101 Freeway around 2 a.m., just North of Beaudry Avenue.

The man was struck multiple times and was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to witnesses, the man was walking against traffic on the right shoulder when he was struck by a black Honda Accord.

He then continued to walk against traffic, but was seen bleeding from his head.

Officers said they found the victim's body in the far right lane of the freeway.

Authorities said the Southbound side of the freeway was shutdown.

The North to South transition roads to the Harbor 110 Freeway were also closed until just before 4:30 a.m.

It was unclear if officers had made any arrests.

Officers have not released any information regarding the victim's identity at this time.
