Small Brush Fire Reported In Chatsworth Area

CHATSWORTH (CBSLA.com)  — A brush fire was reported along the 118 Freeway in Chatsworth Friday evening.

The two-acre fire, near De Soto Avenue,  was reported just before 8 p.m.

Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky 9, said firefighters were making quick work of knocking the fire down.

More than 75 firefighters from three companies responded to the blaze.

Mundel said two water-dropping helicopters were also employed.

Two lanes of the westbound 118 were closed while firefighters battled the blaze and Mundel reported "even at this time of night, the traffic is starting to get tied-up ... it's a good half mile."
