LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Passengers on an outbound flight at LAX Sunday were instructed to deplane after suspicious articles were found in an overhead compartment of the aircraft.

According to airport police, passengers on board American Airlines flight 2593 became concerned when they spotted wires that were sticking out of a carry-on bag in the compartment.

Airline staff reportedly called LAX police around 12:45 p.m. and the Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad responded.

Passengers were transported inside of terminal four while officials conducted an investigation.

A reality television show film crew told officials that the wires sticking out of the bag in question contained film equipment.

Authorities checked out the items within the bag, which confirmed the crew’s story.

According to airport officials, passengers had boarded the plane at Gate 44C through an external terminal located on the South end of the airfield.

It was unclear how many passengers were on board the flight, however, airport officials said that external terminals usually handle smaller airplanes.

Officials said the scene was cleared at 2:40 p.m. and all passengers were be allowed to re-board the plane.

The flight was originally scheduled to take off at 10:20 a.m. to Redmond, Ore.
