Unique Online Auction Allows Bidders To Win 'Once In A Lifetime' Experiences

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — An online auction is allowing people to bid on unique, once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

In 1994, Steve Sims launched an exclusive concierge service, exclusively for rich and famous individuals. Today, he's using his resources to give back to charity.

Sims created bluecause.com, a website that allows anyone to bid on any number of incredible experiences.

These experiences may include taking the stage with your favorite musician, sitting front row at an exclusive fashion show, having a private tour of the United Nations, or even having dinner with former Soviet statesman Mikhail Gorbachev.

"We're sinking all of our expertise, our friendships, our Rolodex, creativity, to something that's benefiting other people," Sims said. "The winning bidder gets the experience so they got something they wanted and the charity makes all of the money."

Clients pick a charity they want to benefit, and they help set up a supposedly-impossible experience.

The auction is performed online, with starting bids ranging from a thousand dollars and up.

The entirety of the proceeds go directly to the charity of choice.

"We're going to be very keen on making sure that there's a whole range of different experiences, ranging from affordable to 'wow'," Sims described. "The winning bidder actually pays the charity directly, and once the payment is made, then we facilitate the experience."

Sims says that, if there's an idea you have on your bucket list, he'll make it possible.
