USC Coach Sarkisian Says Shaw Could Return This Season

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A day after Josh Shaw was suspended from all team activities with USC in light of the senior's untruthful explanation of how he sprained both of his ankles over the weekend, coach Steve Sarkisian struck a conciliatory tone when asked about the cornerback's future with the Trojans.

Shaw initially stated that he suffered the injury while jumping from a balcony to rescue his nephew from a pool in Palmdale on Saturday night. He has now admitted that the story is untrue, although the actual cause of Shaw's injuries has not been disclosed.

During an interview after Thursday's practice, Sarkisian left the door open for Shaw's possible return later this season.

"He's suspended indefinitely," Sarkisian said. "Obviously there are some other things that would have to take place, but, in the meantime, one, he's got to take care of his health, and take care of himself. When the time's right, if the time's right to bring him back, we will."
