LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A woman arrested in the beating death of a 65-year-old man at a Metro Blue Line station was expected to appear in court Thursday.
Officials believe 24-year-old Tracy Gomez and her friend, 23-year-old Virginia Butler, beat John Whitmore at the Willowbrook train station on June 13.READ MORE: Mountain Biker Rescued After Falling Into A Canyon At Mt. Wilson Today
Gomez was arrested Sunday night in Hawthorne, and Butler was taken into custody at her home in Los Angeles around 9 a.m. Wednesday.
The women are believed to have gotten into an argument with Whitmore, who was waiting for a train, before they started kicking and punching him until he collapsed, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Kim Manatt said.
Whitmore died from his injuries a week later, according to authorities.

Butler is scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
