1 Killed in Riverside County Residential Fire

NORCO (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters Saturday were on the scene of a residential fire that killed one person and injured another in Riverside County.

According to the Riverside County Fire Department, 26 firefighters were dispatched shortly after 5 p.m. to a fire in the 400 block of 6th Street.

Crews on scene reported smoke initially showing from the exterior of the residence that burned in a 1,500-foot unattached structure.

The gender of the victim who died in the fire has not yet been released.

A second victim, who is an adult female, suffered minor smoke inhalation, but refused treatment at the scene, officials said.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, 6th Street and Pedley were closed for the duration of the incident.

Crews contained the fire shortly before 7 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
