Suspect In Custody Following Alleged Fake Bomb Report At Chaffey College

RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA.com) — A 21-year-old male suspect was in custody Friday for allegedly making a false bomb report at Chaffey College.

According to the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department, Jonathan Nicks was arrested and booked at Central Jail.

Deputies responded to the college campus just before 1 p.m. Thursday for reports of a bomb threat.

According to deputies, Nicks reported that he saw a white male wearing a vest with anti-government slogans and was in possession of a bomb.

Once on scene, officials established a command post and conducted an extensive search of the campus. No evidence of any threat was found, police said.

All classes that were scheduled after 3:30 p.m. Thursday were cancelled for safety measures due to the investigation.

Through their investigation, authorities learned that Nicks provided false information regarding the threat and he was taken into custody.
