Gang Member Fatally Shot In Drive-By Near MacArthur Park

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 20-year-old gang member was fatally shot early Sunday morning in a drive-by east of MacArthur Park.

Moises Rodriguez, died at a County-USC Medical Center about two hours after being shot, according to Assistant Chief Ed Winter at the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.

Rodriguez, who was a gang member, was shot just before 1:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Wittmer Street, Los Angeles police Sgt. Melvin Gamble said. He suffered two torso wounds and was hit by another 18 bullets in the lower body, he said.

"He had so many wounds, he died from massive blood loss," Los Angeles police Sgt. Herb Chang said.
