Police To Pay $1.8M For Dorner Manhunt Shooting
TORRANCE (AP) — A surfer hurt when a Los Angeles-area police officer rammed and shot up his truck during the manhunt for cop-turned-killer Christopher Dorner will receive $1.8 million.
The Torrance Police Department announced Thursday that it will settle David Perdue's lawsuit.
The 38-year-old Perdue was on his way to surf in February 2013 when a Torrance officer mistook his pickup for Dorner's, rammed it and riddled it with bullets. Perdue wasn't shot but suffered head and spine injuries.
Earlier that day, two women delivering newspapers in Torrance had their truck riddled by Los Angeles police. They received more than $4 million from that city.
Dorner had vowed revenge after being fired from the Los Angeles Police Department. He killed four people before shooting himself in a mountain cabin.
