The Suspect Wears Prada? Police Hunt For Alleged Sunglasses-Wearing Bank Robber

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Tuesday in locating a Newport Beach bank robbery suspect who has an apparent flair for designer shades.

KNX 1070's Mike Landa reports a man in his mid-20s wearing black Prada sunglasses is suspected of robbing a Wells Fargo bank branch on the 3600 block of East Coast Highway.

Police say the suspect - who was also wearing a gray T-shirt - walked into the branch around 10:25 a.m. About 10 minutes later, he handed a teller a note demanding cash, according to police.

Following the transaction, he fled north along Orchid Avenue on foot, police said.

Initial reports suggested the suspect made off with about $500, but that amount appears to have been inaccurate, according to police.

The suspect was described as he man was described as in his mid 20s, about 6'2" inches tall and 150 pounds with short brown hair. He was clean shaven with no visible tattoos and was wearing a gray t-shirt and dark shoes in addition to the sunglassess.
