SWAT Team Tries To Diffuse Barricade Situation In Whittier

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) —   A barricade situation that started Saturday afternoon continued into the late evening in Whittier, police said.

The barricade situation start around 3:15 p.m. in the 15600 block of Leffingwell Road, according to authorities.

A SWAT team with the LA County Sheriff's Department responded to the location and tried to ascertain whether the armed suspect had hostages.

After several hours, it was determined the suspect is holed up alone.

The suspect was reportedly shooting a weapon in the immediate area.

When officers arrived to investigate, they said the man fled.
