The Original Farmers Market Opens 2nd Location At LAX

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Original Farmers Market has opened its second location at the Los Angeles International Airport.

Officials celebrated its grand opening Thursday morning at Terminal 5.

Farmers Market's chefs, culinary artisans and shop owners, civic leaders, representatives from The Original Farmers Market, Delaware North Companies and Los Angeles World Airports were there to ring in the new venue.

Loteria Grill, a staple at the original Third and Fairfax location, has a satellite location at the new Farmers Market.

"The Farmers Market is like our town square, so to have the town square come to the airport I just thought that was a great concept," said Jimmy Shaw, chef and founder of Loteria Grill.

It took five years of planning and construction to get the project just right.

There's a replica of the clock tower and video showing scenes from the Original Farmers Market.

"Concessions like the Farmers Market are an example of what we're trying to do to put LA back into LAX," said Mary Grady, who works in the airport's community relations department.

"It's a great way for us to reach visitors arriving in Los Angeles, as well as all the locals arriving who want something good to eat," said Alysha Buss, an employee with The Original Farmers Market. "So we're really thrilled to be here."
