LYNWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A man was killed Friday when he was struck by a vehicle on the Long Beach (710) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.

Officials said a 57-year-old Bell Gardens man was outside his stalled Ford Explorer in the No. 2 lane when he was fatally struck by a Chevy Silverado truck.
“It was determined that the driver of the Ford Explorer exited his vehicle at some point and stood in the #2 lane waving his arms and a ball cap in an apparent effort to draw the approaching motorists attention. A SigAlert was issued at 3:37 a.m. and all northbound lanes were shut down for an investigation.
It was canceled just before 6 a.m.
