Homicide Detectives Investigating Death Of South El Monte Infant

SOUTH EL MONTE (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Wednesday were investigating the death of an infant boy.

Authorities were sent to  the Greater El Monte Community Hospital just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

According to family members, the 1-month-old child was not breathing and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The infant's cause of death was not released.

"Detectives have not found anything suspicious surrounding this death and are awaiting the coroner's report," officials said.
