NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Police reportedly shot a man to death at a North Hollywood residence Saturday night after he approached them with a knife.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. outside a home in the 11600 block of Stagg Street, Sgt. Albert Gonzalez reported.

Officers were responding to a disturbance call in the area.

“The residents came home and discovered an individual in their yard throwing boulders,” Gonzalez said. “Officers made contact and tried to subdue the suspect with beanbags.”

When that didn’t work, the suspect “produced at least one knife and charged at officers,” Gonzalez said.

Police shot the suspect and he died of his injuries at the scene.

Officials haven’t yet released his identity.
