Standoff Suspect Killed In East LA Deputy-Involved Shooting

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A SWAT standoff ended in a fatal deputy-involved shooting early Tuesday morning.

The standoff began after a woman was shot by a male suspect in the 100 block of North Gage Avenue in East LA just before 3 a.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

She was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

The male suspect then reportedly was seen walking around the street with a gun.

A deputy-involved shooting later occurred around 4:15 a.m., officials said. It was unclear what prompted authorities to discharged their weapons.

"The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No Deputies were injured," according to an LASD news release.

A weapon was recovered by deputies.

The relationship between the man and woman was not released.
