OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 65-year-old resident returning from church services stumbled upon an apparent burglary attempt in his home on Friday evening.
Oxnard police said in a written statement that the resident had returned to his home in the 1400 block of Marsella Drive around 8:30 p.m. and found the suspect.READ MORE: Prince Philip Laid To Rest As England Mourns; Prince Harry In Attendance
The statement says a struggle ensued between the homeowner and the suspect, who sustained a laceration to his head.
The homeowner’s wife contacted authorities, and the suspect was subsequently arrested and booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of residential burglary, police said.READ MORE: Boy Shot, Killed In Cudahy; Gunman At Large
The suspect was identified by authorities as 18-year-old Rogelio Colchado Madrigal of Oxnard.
“The subject was found to have property belonging to the victim,” the statement alleged.
