Chino Burglary Suspect Remains At-Large After 2 Alleged Accomplices Are Nabbed
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police officers chased three burglary suspects Wednesday from Chino to downtown Los Angeles.
Two of the suspects were taken into custody and the third was still at-large.
The officers were conducting a burglary investigation in the Hacienda Heights area when they saw the suspects in a 2013 Nissan Altima.
Authorities tried to stop the car about 10:20 a.m., said Chino city spokeswoman Michelle Van Der Linden.
The chase led to the area of Wall Street and Pico Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles, where the occupants of the car -- two men and a woman -- got out and fled, Van Der Linden said.
One man was quickly taken into custody near the car, and the second man was arrested after trying to hide in a business, Van Der Linden said. The search was continuing for the woman, she said.
Marcus Nelson and Larry Laniel, both 22-year-old Los Angeles residents, were being booked on suspicion of burglary, felony evading and being felons in possession of firearms, Van Der Linden said.
Detectives recovered two shotguns, an assault rifle, an M1 rifle and at least one handgun, she said.
The suspects were wanted for questioning about five residential burglaries that occurred in Chino on Monday, according to Van Der Linden.
The vehicle and occupants were under Chino police surveillance this morning when a residence near Cedarlane Middle School in Hacienda Heights was burglarized, she said. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, which resulted in an 80 mph-plus pursuit.
