Public's Help Sought To Find Suspect Who Sexually Assaulted Girl, 12, In Claremont

CLAREMONT (CBSLA.com) — The Claremont Police Department is asking the public to help them identify a suspect who allegedly sexually and physically assaulted a juvenile.

Officials said the alleged assault took place around 12:07 a.m. on Friday, March 21st.

Authorities said the unknown suspect gained entry into the female juvenile's house between 10:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. when she was home alone.

The home is located on Arrow

Police say the suspect is a white male, about 30 and approximately 5 feet 8 (or 9) inches tall. He has a medium build, blue eyes and brown hair. He was also described as clean shaven.

The suspect was last seen wearing a flannel-type shirt, possibly black and red in color. He was also wearing a dark colored baseball cap.

Police on Wednesday evening told KCAL9's Crystal Cruz that the alleged victim and her father came to the police station to file a report.

They credited the girl, aged 12, with giving them a "great" description to go on.

"Obviously people should be concerned that this person is out there on the loose. We have no idea if he's a transient that happened to come into the area, we have no idea if he's stationed locally. We do have officers that are out, that are aware of it, they're out there actively looking," said, Claremont Police Lt. Mike Ciszek.

Police told Cruz the incident appeared random and isolated.

They described the suspect as "dangerous."

Officials also told Cruz that tips were coming in from other law enforcement agencies including San Bernardino, San Dimas and Fontana.

If anyone has any information related to the suspect or the investigation, please contact the Claremont Police Department Detective Bureau at (909) 399-5420.
