Dozens (People And Dogs) Show To Support Critically-Wounded K9 Officer

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Dozens came to support a critically-wounded K9 officer in Anaheim Saturday.

The event was called "Bark for Bruno" and man and beast alike came to support the 7-year-old German Shepherd who was shot Thursday and wounded in the line of duty.

Bruno was credited with saving three officers from being shot. He was shot in the jaw and chest helping to take down a suspect who police later fatally shot.

About 20 German Shepherds showed up at the animal hospital where Bruno is rehabbing and donated blood.

Bruno's devastated partner, Officer R.J. Young, came to rally the supporters.

"Bruno's doing good," he said, choking back tears. "He's a fighter ... all I ask if that you continue to  keep him in your prayers for me. And we will get him through this tough time. Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you very much."
