Shots Fired At Compton Party Kill 1, Injure 2nd Victim

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say one man has died and a second was wounded when an altercation at a Compton party turned violent.

The fatal shooting occurred about 12:25 a.m. in the 100 block of South Wilmington Avenue, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a written statement.

The statement says deputies responded to a call of a gunshot victim. When they arrived, they found two victims, described as Black males, suffering of gunshot wounds.

Both were transported to area hospitals, where one died. The deceased victim was 31 years old.

The second victim, believed to be 24 years old, is expected to survive.

The statement says witnesses had told authorities the victims were at a party when an altercation occurred with the unidentified suspect (s).

Authorities say the weapon used and suspect (s) remain at large.
