Man's Body Found In Trunk Of Burning Car In Panorama City

PANORAMA CITY (CBSLA.com) — A man's body was found in the trunk of a burning car in Panorama City Monday.

Los Angeles City fire officials got a call of a car fire in an alleyway near Terra Bella Street and Vena Avenue around 10:20 p.m.

When firefighters put out the burning Audi A4, they discovered the body of man, between 25 and 35 years old, inside the trunk.

"The fire fully engulfed the passenger compartment, but never made it to the trunk," said Lt. Paul Vernon.

The man's cause of death was unknown.

"We'll have to wait for the coroner's conclusion to find out, but the murder does show signs of gang or narcotics influence," Lt. Vernon said.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.
