Two Suspects In Fatal Santa Ana Nightclub Beating Plead Not Guilty

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Two women suspected in the beating death of a 23-year-old Westminster woman outside an Orange County nightclub pleaded not guilty Friday.

Vanesa Tapia Zavala, 25, and 27-year-old Candace Marie Brito have been charged with the murder of Annie Hung "Kim" Pham, who was attacked shortly after midnight on Jan. 18 outside The Crosby Bar and Nightclub.

She died two days later after being taken off life support.

Prosecutors Friday also added a charge of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury against both suspects.

The pair are due back in court Monday for a trial-setting conference.
