BEVERLY HILLS ( — Every year, it is the biggest party before music’s biggest night.

Even if stars attended Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy party in the past, it’s no guarantee they’ll be invited the following year.

That is one reason, securing an invite has also become an annual rite.

Before music’s biggest night — there’s music’s biggest pre-party. The bash is filled with major performers, executives, TV and movie stars.

KCAL9’s Melanie Woodrow was on the red carpet as Hollywood’s A-list ambled by.

“It’s the only party where within 10 feet of you, you’ll see Britney, Prince and Tom Hanks,” said Ryan Tedder of One Republic.

Or Miley Cyrus or Cyndi Lauper.

As Lauper watched Cyrus fly by, she said, “There you go, marching back and forth. I hope those shoes are okay.”

Lauper told Woodrow she likes Miley and her style.

“I think ‘Wrecking Ball’ is a really great song, well constructed, good strong pop song,” said Lauper.

For some, the Clive Davis party is literally a family affair.

Sharon, Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne walked the carpet together. Gayle King of “CBS This Morning” brought her daughter.

“This is my first Clive Davis party and I just can not wait to see the performances,” said King’s daughter, Kirby Bumpus.

“Every year I just feel blessed to make the cut,” said King.

Attendees told Woodrow that one of the things that makes this party so great, year after year, are the unexpected mash-ups — you never know who is going to perform together.

“He has a very unique talent of putting people together in a very special way,” said Gayle King.

Comedian Kathy Griffin quipped, “All the elements are here — Earth, Wind, Fire … Water, water’s here. Comedy.”

And everyone was on the red carpet was eying their favorites.

Tedder noticed Macklemore. “Definitely one of my favorites.”

Gayle King concurred. “I’m looking at Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. I really feel it’s their year.”
