The thankful friend gave Witt a few bucks — for her troubles and her Kleenex — and Witt took that money and bought a $10 California Gold scratcher.

Lottery fever? Cat scratch fever? Call this a combination of both.

Witt’s ticket, purchased at a CVS Pharmacy (1382 North Moorpark Road) in Thousand Oaks, was a lucky $1 million winner.

Witt, a retired grocery store clerk, said the money will come in handy.

“I could not believe it at all,” she told the CA Lottery, “it just feels like a Cinderella story.”

No word on if she planned on getting a cat.
