Mayor Garcetti Pays Hospital Visit To Woman Struck By SUV He Was Riding In
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Mayor Eric Garcetti, a passenger in a police SUV that struck a pedestrian on Tuesday, visited the victim in the hospital this morning.
"I had the pleasure of meeting Juliet Nicolas ... at L.A. County-USC Medical Center," Garcetti said. "We had a nice conversation and I am very pleased that she is in good spirits. I wish her a speedy recovery."
The 60-year-old woman, who was not seriously hurt, could be released from the hospital Wednesday afternoon or evening.
According to the mayor's office, the vehicle -- a black SUV traditionally used to transport Garcetti was going east on Second Street near Spring Street when it struck the woman about 12:20 p.m. The mayor, who was returning to City Hall, was on the phone and did not see Nicolas get hit, according to his office.
