8 Arrested In Ventura County Panga Boat Bust

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — A panga boat bust Wednesday led to the arrests of eight people on a Ventura County beach.

Several people were aboard the boat, which was spotted around 3 a.m. by a Ventura County Sheriff's deputies patrolling Rincon Beach near the Mobil Oil Pier between Seacliff and Mussel Shoals.

The suspects fled after they were contacted, but deputies managed to arrest eight people.

Authorities said the boat was loaded with marijuana.

The California Highway Patrol briefly shut down northbound lanes of the Ventura (101) Freeway to conduct a search for the outstanding suspects. It was unclear how many people authorities were potentially looking for.
