Pedestrian Fatally Struck By 2 Vehicles Near Huntington State Beach Identified

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CNS) —  Authorities said a pedestrian was struck by two vehicles and killed Saturday near Huntington State Beach.

A silver 2003 Cadillac SLS going northbound on Pacific Coast Highway near Brookhurst Street struck a 28-year-old resident of Costa Mesa, according to department officials.

Police were dispatched to the location about 4:30 a.m.

The driver of the Cadillac, a 55-year-old Huntington Beach man, was not injured. He was interviewed at the scene and later released, police said.

The pedestrian, who was walking in the roadway, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Coroner on Saturday evening identified the deceased as 28-year-old Matthew Aguilar of Costa Mesa.

Investigators believe Aguilar was struck by a second vehicle after the initial hit. The second motorist fled and has not been identified.

Police said the vehicle would have sustained some damage to the front end and undercarriage.

Anyone with any information about the incident was asked to call Huntington Beach Police at (714) 536-5670.
