GLENDALE ( — A Glendale councilman believes DreamWorks should foot some of the bill for increased security for President Barack Obama’s visit last month.

KNX 1070’s Megan Goldsby reports that Councilman Zareh Sinanyan told the city council that the city shouldn’t have to pay the $61,000 for security and traffic control on their own.

Sinanyan says he thinks it’s fair for the animation studio to pay up because that’s where the president spoke about the importance of the film industry in the economy and met with employees.

Glendale spokesman Tom Lorenz says the city receives federal funds throughout the year, and paying for the presidential visit is just traditionally something cities have to do.

A DreamWorks spokesperson says the company hasn’t been contacted by the city about the matter.
