Officer Accidentally Shot In Leg In El Monte
EL MONTE (CBSLA.com) — An EL Monte police officer was recovering Thursday after he accidentally shot himself in the leg.
The incident took place around midnight after a car chase and foot pursuit that ended on Brockway Street and Utah Avenue, police said.
"One of the pursuing officers accidentally shot himself once in the leg during the apprehension of the fleeing suspect," Sgt. Robert Cobian said.
The officer was taken to County USC Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
One person was taken into custody. No one else was injured, officials said.
It was unclear what caused the pursuit.
