Female Motorcyclist From Washington Killed In Riverside Crash

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A female motorcyclist from Washington was killed Friday evening in a collision in Riverside.

The 36-year-old woman from Seattle was driving her 2007 Suzuki scooter westbound on University Avenue approaching Redwood Drive when she crossed into oncoming traffic, Riverside Police said in a department statement.

"She collided head-on with a 2001 Chevy Silverado driven by a 33-year-old Riverside female southbound on Redwood," the statement indicated.

Police said the unidentified female victim was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time. She was taken to an area hospital where she died.

There was no word on the condition of the other driver.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
