Sex Offender Suspected Of Armed Robbery In Tustin

TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — A transient and registered sex offender is scheduled to appear in court Friday after being arrested on suspicion of robbing a convenience store in Tustin at gunpoint.

Martin Joseph Ryan IV, 33, was spotted walking in the 1700 block of Liberty Drive in Corona, where Tustin Police detectives arrested him. Corona is the last known location where Ryan registered as a sex offender, stemming from a 2004 attempted rape conviction in Riverside, Tustin police said.

Ryan is suspected of brandishing a semi-automatic handgun while robbing the ToTo Convenience Market at McFadden and B Street in Tustin on Nov. 6.

A Garden Grove police officer recognized evidence in the news release about the robbery, Tustin police said, which led officials to Ryan.
