63-Year-Old Cypress Woman Found Slain Inside Her Home

CYPRESS (CBSLA.com) — Officials say a 63-year-old Cypress woman is the victim of a homicide.

The unidentified woman's co-workers were concerned when she didn't show up for work for several days.

Authorities said they discovered the woman dead in her Pimlico Drive home around 11:30 a.m. Thursday after conducting a welfare check.

Police told KCAL9's Stacey Butler that there was no sign of forced entry.

Butler reported "bags of evidence" were removed from the home.

Police told her they did not suspect a domestic violence situation.

The woman lived alone for at least the past 10 years, neighbors told Butler.

"She was a very nice lady. Always went to work every day," said Robin Woodson. "She had a daughter. Just a very, very sweet lady."

The woman's 18-year-old daughter recently moved to Texas to go to college, according to neighbors.

Butler said the woman's Facebook page said she was a registered nurse who may have been a consultant for the LA County Juvenile Mental Health Court.

The victim's name was withheld pending notification of her next of kin.
