Man Fatally Shot In Compton While Visiting Friends

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Saturday continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man in Compton.

Witnesses told authorities that the unidentified victim, described as a Hispanic man, was standing in a front yard of a home when a vehicle slowly past him and words were exchanged.

Soon after, authorities say it's believed that one of the occupants of the car fired several shots at the victim.

The statement says the man was struck once in his upper torso. He was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said the incident occurred about 1:50 a.m. in the 1400 block of West 154th Street.
