LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The father of a 21-year-old man killed in August after he was struck by a Metro bus in North Hollywood while chasing his dog is suing the agency.
Walter Shelby, Jr. filed claims in Los Angeles Superior Court Thursday, claiming Metro was negligent in the death of his son, Xavier Shelby.READ MORE: Jackson Scores 21 Points, Clippers Beat Pistons 107-96
City News Service reports the young man was running after his pit bull puppy, who was chasing after a ball, when both were fatally struck by the bus traveling south on Webb Avenue the morning of August 14. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Shelby is seeking compensation for burial expenses and unspecified damages.
