Sepulveda Boulevard Near 405 Freeway Set For Weekend Closure

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A weekend-long closure near the San Diego (405) Freeway could cause traffic headaches for some Southland drivers.

Sepulveda Boulevard will be closed in both directions between Montana Avenue and Church Lane starting at 10 p.m. Friday night and continuing until 5 a.m. Monday, Metro officials said.

The closure is part of a $1.1 billion 405 Freeway project that will expand the northbound freeway for a carpool lane that stretches from Orange County to the Ventura (101) Freeway.

This weekend's closure will allow heavy equipment to be staged ahead of the scheduled installation of girders for the northbound Sunset off-ramp, which is currently under construction.

Drivers traveling northbound on Sepulveda can take a left on Montana, a right on Church Lane (which circles under the freeway and back to Sepulveda) and then a left on Sepulveda. For drivers traveling southbound on Sepulveda, reverse these instructions.

No ramps other than the already closed northbound I-405 Sunset Boulevard off ramp are scheduled to be closed.
