Boy, 13, Arrested In Series Of South Bay Apartment Burglaries

HARBOR CITY (CBSLA.com) — A 13-year-old boy with a history of sexual assault has been arrested in a series of burglaries at a South Bay apartment complex, police said.

The boy, who was arrested Wednesday, is accused of nine burglaries from April to August of this year at the Summer Glen complex on Western Avenue, the Daily Breeze reported.

He is accused of sneaking into apartments and stealing money and purses, sometimes while the residents were home.

During each crime, the boy would enter the unit through a window or open sliding door.

Los Angeles police released surveillance video of the suspect last week and were flooded with tips from the public, the Breeze said.

The teen's mother even called police after seeing her son's picture, telling officials the child has a record of burglary in addition to sexual assault, the paper reported.

He was arrested Wednesday and booked at Eastlake Juvenile Hall in Los Angeles.

The boy's name was not released due to his age.
