Substitute Teacher's Assistant Arrested On Child Porn Charges

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 35-year-old substitute teacher's assistant has been arrested on child porn charges, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Frank Hernandez, Jr., a resident of the San Fernando Valley, was arrested by a task force also including  Los Angeles Internet Crimes Against Children in partnership with Homeland Security Investigations.

For the past six years, Hernandez has worked for the LAUSD as a substitute teacher's assistant. According to the Associate Press, Hernandez worked in the area of special education. They also quoted a LAUSD spokeswoman who said Hernandez was let go for "unsatisfactory service" on Wednesday.

Officials served a search warrant at Hernandez's residence Wednesday.

He was arrested for violating code 311.1(a) of the California Penal Code: Distribution of Child Pornography.

Hernandez, Jr. was booked at Van Nuys Jail and held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

The public is reminded that any suspected inappropriate contact with a minor or knowledge of child pornography on the Internet, should be immediately reported to their local law enforcement agency or to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at (800) 843-5678.
