Ernesto Melendez, 23, was celebrating his girlfriend’s work promotion when the driver plowed into him as he was getting into his car on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks.
Melendez’ girlfriend, Cynthia Lemus, rushed over to her boyfriend after the accident occurred. She was with him as he lay dying.

Melendez’ family is no stranger to the tragedies of a hit and run. Years ago, his mother had been killed by a hit and run driver.
The family reportedly needs help with funeral expenses, but more than anything they say they are looking for justice.
