Simi Valley Man Wounded In Apparent Gang-Related Shooting

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday said a Simi Valley resident was wounded in an apparent gang-related shooting.

The incident unfolded about 1 a.m. in the 2600 block of Phipps Avenue.

Simi Valley police said in a department statement that the victim was visiting a friend when he was confronted by one or more suspects who subsequently opened fire.

The victim, identified as 19-year old-David Lizarraga, was shot in the stomach and arm, according to the statement.

He was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

An investigation is ongoing.
